Most of our funding comes from 3 different sources
Family sponsors
US universities
Businesses
We have a dollar a day campaign that a lot of families participate in and that goes to funding schools or a medical camp, which ever they prefer. Also from when we started, a lot of our funding has come from word of mouth in businesses. We have been fortunate to have some businesses opt to not charge some of their clients who may be as financially well and instead ask them to donate whatever they would like for their services to One Life At A Time.
Additionally, some physicians follow the same practice and instead of charging really young babies or the elderly, would direct them to donating.
One of our largest fundraising opportunities are through campaigns at schools, the most successful one is actually at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. We partnered with the fraternity Delta Epsilon Psi to host Play for Education: A Field Day for Child Literacy and Medical Camps every April since 2013. The event has been highly successful and we have raised over $10,000 in the past three years combined.
We currently are working on organizing a Walk for Education event to get the organization in the public and gain sponsorship.
